About the Artist

I'm Sally Newton, an Artist based in Bingley, West Yorkshire.  I work from my home studio where I use household items to inform my work, showcasing 'the everyday' When possible, I work outside, using my local landscape as an inspiration

I graduated with a 1st in Fine Art from Bradford in 2012 and moved to London, working as an Artist in Residence for schools. As well as teaching, I designed and produced educational, curriculum led wall art for children. In 2015, after making the decision to leave teaching, I began to work solely as a professional Artist. My work became well regarded and in demand within London schools.  An expansive body of mural work can be seen here at  www.sallynewton-mural-artist with images from London, and more recently, Bradford and Leeds.  

A return to my beloved Bingley has given me the opportunity to devote time to my own practice and still commit to my mural projects. 

Wilford Art is my new 'Yorkshire' venture. 

I'm taking my Art to market, showing my work to whoever wants to browse or buy. An original piece of Art, a printed card, a design and print order for your special occasion invites or a mural for your child's playroom. 

Wilford Art is a kind of 'everywhere' gallery.  Online, at an Artisan market or a village Hall, it's a platform to show my work without the constrictions of one particular style or subject matter. As an Artist, I jump forwards, backwards and sideways in my choice of practice. I've finally realised that this is ok!  

An important inspiration has always been the work of my late father, David Wilford, a self taught Artist and Painter and Decorator. His extraordinary, beautiful work, to my mind, wasn't as fully appreciated as it should have been, had it been shown. 
That's why I've chosen his name to head up my new art adventure. I love the idea of our work sitting together at last. I want to make his work seen and that's why I'm showing some choice pieces of his work on wilfordart.com where a selection of limited edition prints will soon be available.
